15 members of RAFOC led by Mej Jen Datuk Abd Kadir bin Nordin, (Bersara), committee member, and three wives attended the commissioning parade which was held at the Kolej Tentera Darat (KTD), Kem Segenting, Port Dickson on Saturday, 8 February 2014. The invitation to the parade was done through RAFOC. Also present were four mantan PAT and two mantan PTD, (all members of RAFOC) who were invited individually as former Chief of Army by the present Chief of Army. 60 Army officer cadets of SSC Intake 76, all graduates with first degree, were to be commissioned on that day.

SPB Yang DiPertuan Agong and SPB Raja Permaisuri Agong graced the parade with their royal presence with SPB Yang DiPertuan Agong taking the royal salute. Also present were the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, the Chief of Defence Force, the Chief of Army and other 200 or so senior officers from the three Services and their wives. Also present were the parents and families of those who were to be commissioned on that day.

After the marching out of the newly commissioned officers, to the tune of the "Auld Lang Syne", the "formal" closing of KTD was held with 502 officers from the various intakes (serving) of various ranks marching onto the parade square - four contingents in the uniforms of the officer cadets of yesteryears. Earlier, a pantomime was held on the parade square depicting the life an officer cadet from the time he reported to the college until his reporting to the various units. It was real and nostalgic indeed.

After the parade the 60 young officers plus another 35 other Army officers and one Navy officer, who were commissioned earlier, were bestowed with their individual parchments by SPB Yang DiPertuan Agong at a ceremony held in the Auditorium Sebatang Karah, KTD. Present were the official guests and parents and families of those who were commissioned.

In 1995, Divisyen Kadet, Maktab Tentera DiRaja (MTD), was relocated to Ulu Tiram, Johor to facilitate the formation of the Akademi Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATMA) in Kem Sungai Besi, which later in 1999 renamed as Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM). In January 1999, Kolej Tentera Darat was officially formed and Divisyen Kadet, MTD was dissolved. In January 2012, KTD moved from Ulu Tiram to its new and modern 87.3 acre camp by the sea front - Kem Segenting, Port Dickson. The reorganization and the roles of the "former" KTD under its new name are being decided.

Our RAFOC delegation was well looked after with thanks to the Commandant KTD. Three were billeted at the 5-star students' rooms at the Pusat Pengaman Malaysia located next door, the night before. Others chose to make their own arrangement. It was a good opportunity to visit the new and modern KTD. It's a pity not that many members came.
