MEETING WITH KP PERKHIDMATAN KESIHATAN ATM
Eight members of our RAFOC Committee, led by our RAFOC President, called on the Ketua Pengarah, Perkhidmatan Kesihatan Angkatan Tentera, Lt Jen (Dr) Datuk Hj Abd Razak bin Mohd Yusoff, at his office in Menara Park, Kuala Lumpur on Monday, 17 Jun 2013 at 1330 hours. Also in the RAFOC delegation were Mej Jen (Dr) Dato' Mohd Salleh bin Mohd Sam, (Bersara), a former Ketua Pengarah, Perkhidmatan Kesihatan Angkatan Tentera, Mej Jen Dato' Mohd Muslim bin Mohd Ayob, TUDM, (Bersara), Brig Jen Dato' Adnan bin Ali, (Bersara), a former Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff (Personnel Services), Armed Forces HQ - three members of our RAFOC Sub-Committee on Service Matters & Related Issues.
The aim of the visit was for the committee to maintain contact with the Ketua Pengarah, Perkhidmatan Kesihatan Angkatan Tentera, to thank him on the services rendered by the medical staff at the various military hospitals and to register RAFOC's concern on the issues related to the medical benefits of the retired Armed Forces officers. At the same time, the visit was to enable the committee members to be updated on the development of the Armed Forces Medical Services and the services provided to the Armed Forces veterans.
Prior to this meeting, our RAFOC Secretariat did request for members to submit their feed-back on the issues related to the medical benefits, for the committee to consider raising them with the Ketua Pengarah. Only 14 members responded, mainly on the on-going problems they experienced at HAT Tuanku Mizan, Kuala Lumpur ie. the shortage of pharmacy staff and the delay in getting their medicines at HAT Tuanku Mizan and the Farmasi Veteran.
During the meeting, the committee was updated on the latest situation on the Perkhidmatan Kesihatan Angkatan Tentera by Lt Jen (Dr) Datuk Hj Abd Razak. Present with him were Mej Jen (Dr) Dato' Yaacop bin Koming, Director of Medical Services and Kol (Dr) Halim bin Basari, Head of Pharmacy. Brig Jen (Dr) Dato' Hj Muhamad bin Abu Bakar, the Commanding Officer, HAT Tuanku Mizan, unfortunately was not present.
The committee raised a number of issues related to the medical benefits and facilities given to the Armed Forces veterans but did not raise the operations issues at HAT Tuanku Mizan per se since these matters were under the Commanding Officer of the hospital. Nevertheless, Lt Jen (Dr) Datuk Hj Abd Razak did inform us that the delay in dispensing of medicines at HAT Tuanku Mizan was because two of the pharmacy staff had been removed due to certain reason but action was in hand to get their replacement.
Our thanks to Lt Jen (Dr) Datuk Hj Abd Razak for facilitating our meeting with him and for listening to the feed-back from our members on the services provided by his organization. The last meeting we had with him was on 10 Apr 2012 at HAT Tuanku Mizan, Kuala Lumpur. We hope that such a meeting will continue to be held from time to time as deemed necessary.
The committee is seeking a date to meet the Commanding Officer of HAT Tuanku Mizan to raise the feed-back by our members. The committee is aware that RAFOC will not be able to resolve the problems at HAT Tuanku Mizan, Kuala Lumpur per se but the least we can do is to raise the feed-back from our members to the relevant authorities.
